Hallelujah! A victory for the forces that understand that the wall between the Church and the State cannot be breached.

Roy Moore was removed from the bench today for refusing to obey a Court Order to move a statue displaying the 10 commandments from the Rotunda of the Alabama State Courthouse (which he had moved in in the middle of the night without consultation after he was appointed Chief Justice in 2001).

Christian zealots will, of course, cry 'Anti-Christianism'.

Odd, isn't it, that you don't hear any Jewish or Moslem people making the same cry, when the Old Testament is part of their holy books too...

If you want an understanding of just why this man needed to not be in power, listen to his quote "To acknowledge God cannot be a violation of the Canons of Ethics. Without God there can be no ethics"...which implies strongly that the athiest or the agnostic can't have ethics. It also implies that if Mr. Moore believed you weren't Christian, your likelihood of winning in his Court was significantly diminished.

And that's precisely what the First Amendment set out to prevent.
