"So...what'd ya do this weekend, Gorm"?

Glad you asked...not a blessed thing SCA related...that's the last time I'll be able to say that until after Sapphire Joust...so having the weekend to get the house together and ready to stand up to 7 weeks of relative abandonment was a good thing.

Saturday we tore up our front yard. Literally...like, with a roto-tiller set to 3" of depth. Then spread grass seed and watered.

We'll see if it turns into a nice lush bit of greenness like it's supposed to...we'll see...it'd better...

Then we went to the wedding of a former coworker of mine to a friend. Good deal. They've been living together for (mumbldymumble) years, so it was good and overdue. The couple looked happy and all is well.

Sunday I slept in until about 9:30, then got up and we continued prepping the lawn. Spread seed over the backyard...didn't till it up because we doubt the dogs would appreciate it. Truly, the grasslings don't have a prayer, but we had to try...we'll see.

Then we dragged the front yard with a piece of chainlink fence with weights on it, to dig the seeds from yesterday in, and level things out. It looks like it's supposed to...that's gotta be a good sign.

Then we went grocery shopping. While there, we bought some new hose and a hose reel, which we realized when we were *just* about home that we had left on the bottom of our shopping cart.

So we knew we would have to go back to the Wal-Mart and hope beyond hope. But, just to make matters even more precious, we got home to discover that someone had wiped out our mailbox and newspaper box...and hadn't even had the courtesy to leave a "Ooops..." note. Hope the karma bites them in the ass.

So, we dashed back to the Wal-Mart, and the cart corrals had been emptied, and no, noone had turned it in to Customer Service, so we had to buy it again...another $17 down the drain, to go with the $25 to replace the mailbox and post...Oh well, it's only money, right?

Came back, set the new mailbox in place, mounted the hose reel, came inside, ate some lunch and napped. and I mean napped! Crashed on the couch at 2:30, and woke up at 6:30 doing the "Uhh...morning" bit. Needed that badly, evidently.

Then we went out to burn the pine needles and logs leftover from the yardwork of a couple of weeks ago. Got it going well....but it got to 11:00 and wasn't done, so we had to hose it out and we'll have to come back at it again another day...but we did burn about 75% of the pile, so that's good.

Now it's 11:15, and I'm not tired enough to go to sleep...blah...gotta get up early tomorrow to return the rototiller on the way to work...then it's diving into the April Heraldry...got the new database together last week...all should be well.

So, I'm physically tired, but it's a good tired...and the yard is looking like it shoudl start looking much better in a few days, when the grass grows...

The grass will grow...right?

Next weekend it's Night Overboard...one of my favorite events in the Spring season, then the following weekend Sarna comes down and we try to make some vaugely medievaloid chairs, from the Bryce plans, allegedly rated at well over one Thornbury *before* he lost a ton of weight (Bryce's quote, not mine)...so it should be good. Maybe they'll be the solution to the chair problems.

Then it's Crown Tourney, then two weekends to prep for Sapphire before Sapphire, then June University, Highland River Melees, Last Chance, a couple of other fighting tuneups before Pennsic, and then Pennsic.

Add in the monthly Herald meetings, the need to do LoI's, process paperwork, and all the rest of the fun, and it sounds like I need to have my batteries charged now, because it'll be labor day before another chance to really sit back and catch my breath.

Ehh, that's okay, it beats watching the grass grow (it'd better grow...)
