Roosevelt
Democrat - You believe that there should be a free
market which is reigned in by a modest state
beaurocracy. You think that capitalism has
some good things, but that those it helps
should be obliged to help out their fellow man
a little. Your historical role model is
Franklin Rosevelt.

Which political sterotype are you?

Well, I'm sure that came as a surprise to nobody (well, except maybe Colin and foxphotog, who were betting on Communist or Socialist I'm sure...loveya guys...) So...on to the George Bush attempt to ensure reelect......err...Military action in the Gulf.

I see that the early stages are going well, better than expected even. Excellent. Hopefully that will mean George II won't have many corpses on his soul...although I'm sure he'll sleep well at night regardless.

Lots of folks are saying that those who believe this Military Action is illchosen should shut up because we're there now. That's just silly and goes against *everything* our soldiers are over there allegedly fighting for (ie freedom).

Should those against the Military Action (remember, only Congress can declare War, although Soldiers die every bit as well in Military Action) do active things to impede the effort, sabotage is right out. BUt saying peaceful (note, I said peaceful) dissent should be supressed because it interferes with the unity of the Nation, while we're "liberating" another Nation from a situation where dissent is supressed because it interferes is just plain Kafkaesque.

So no, I will continue my opposition, and I will continue saying I'm against it. I will be exceptionally happy when we win, because it means we should be nearing the end of the killing.

No, I was never in the military. I had the paperwork all signed up to go Air Force my Senior Year of High School (as a radar technician assuming all went to plan), but at the last minute *they* decided they didn't want me because I didn't meet their Height/Weight ratio by some 20 lbs.

Keeping in mind this was when I was relatively active and athletic (letters in Tennis, bicycled to school every day the weather was suitable, etc, etc).

So I took the scholarship to Eureka instead.

So no, I don't know what it's like. I'm sure it sucks. I think our soldiers are underpaid for what they do. Far, far underpaid.

Of course, I also think teachers are underpaid, and policemen, and everyone doing *useful* things, as opposed to CEO's making 8 figure annual salaries to issue policy on "Compliance Information Tab useage in Microsoft Excel" (A recent piece of silliness to come from above at my workplace...basically it says we have to put a document owner on a special tab of every Excel spreadsheet we make...when that information is *already* capable of being stored *in* the properties of the file...)

So yep, I'm a Democrat. So sue me.

On other news, courtesy of my beloved wife's getting commissioned to make a scarf, I'm back on my Gold Membership...Yea me.

Okay, this is long enough. Oh, and Colin...you're right on Somalia, somewhat at least...Bush went in...but Clinton caught the crap when things went to hell...did he screw up? Maybe...again, I'm not a military person, so I can't say for sure.
